Welcome to Mulberry Counselling

I am a BACP-registered, accredited counsellor with almost 20 years experience working with adults and children. I offer 1-1 counselling in person and online, anywhere in the UK via zoom.

I specialise in helping adults who are feeling stressed, anxious and overwhelmed, and those experiencing difficulties in their relationships, with their partners, family or work colleagues.

You may feel exhausted trying to cope with all the demands in your life, maybe you are overthinking, and worried about what people think of you or struggling to say no to people. This can lead to neglecting your own needs, being unable to relax, putting things off or avoiding situations. I offer a safe space without judgement, for you to talk through and make sense of your emotions in a calm, supportive environment.

Together, we can identify the best ways to help you manage your stress and anxiety and change any negative thoughts, patterns and behaviours. Gaining insight and strategies to help you feel happier and more confident in yourself, your life and your relationships.

Appointments

The counselling I offer is easy to arrange, flexible and carefully tailored to your individual needs. Appointments can be arranged quickly and easily. They can take place in person or remotely by Zoom or telephone.

Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £60. They usually take place weekly or fortnightly at times to suit your availability.

Payment is made at your session, by cash or bank transfer.

I work from my therapy room in Killingworth, North Tyneside. This is in a quiet residential area with on-street parking available. It is near the A19 and A1, making it easily accessible from both Newcastle and Northumberland.

About Me

I was born and raised in Newcastle, a place that I hold dear to my heart. The stunning beaches, beautiful countryside, and vibrant city, as well as the warm and welcoming people of the north, are all reasons I am proud to call this area my home.

My business, Mulberry Counselling, was born out of my life experience, passion and purpose to help others. My experience as a person-centred counsellor spans almost 20 years. Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, such as the NHS, schools, universities, charities and in parent support. I am an affiliate counsellor for several Employee Assistance Programmes and a registered counsellor for Bupa Insurance and other insurance providers, and have worked in private practice for many years.

I have much life experience and have faced many challenges along the way, including raising a family as a single parent. Wanting to help other parents, I worked on a programme that supported parents to navigate the many challenges of parenting. I done this for several years before eventually taking the plunge to study to become a counsellor. This proved to be an incredibly enlightening and challenging experience, learning as much about myself as gaining the knowledge and skills to help others. It not only changed my life, it gave me the privilege of helping others change theirs.

I am a registered, accredited member of The British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), which requires me to maintain strong professional standards and follow a professional code of conduct and practice.

I hold a current Enhanced DBS Certificate and professional indemnity insurance. Working in the UK, under UK law, I comply with current GDPR data regulations, ensuring the safe and secure handling of personal data, and I am registered with the ICO.

Working with Audrey helped me to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I started to enjoy my life again, picking up old hobbies and allowing myself to be happy again.

I couldn’t recommend her enough to anyone going through a difficult time and I would encourage people to push themselves through those first difficult steps to speak to her, have a first session and see how much better you feel at the end of it!

I was made to feel welcome and although the first session is always going to be the hardest, I left feeling relief that I’ve begun to unpack some of the pain I was feeling.

Thanks to Mulberry Counselling, I can now recognise the signs of stress before it overwhelms me, and I am able to rationalise thoughts in my head and deal with them in a healthy way. I feel much more confident in myself and no longer have those negative thoughts going round in my head.

I feel like I’ve been able to deal with the feelings of inferiority I have had my whole life, even as a child, and I feel much stronger for it. I feel very proud of myself and happy when I look back to see the progress I’ve made; I am in a much better headspace now than I was and am optimistic about the future.

Audrey’s style was very helpful as she would ask thought provoking questions which would help me to come to realisations. She seemed to draw things out of me that I hadn’t fully understood before but in a gentle, supportive way.

It helped me to identify the things in my life that were making me very unhappy and begin to make choices that could lead me to a happier way of living.

I’d fully recommend Mulberry Counselling to help with relationship issues and feelings of depression. Audrey helped me to understand the root causes of the concerns I had within our first couple of sessions and gave me the support I needed as I started to put actions into place to resolve them. Thank you Audrey - you have changed my life.
